About Bush Timbers Australia

A South Australian family based business, Bush Timbers was established some years ago for the purpose of sourcing and supplying Australian timbers.  The range of species available has become quite extensive and is increasing. Our stock includes both reclaimed and new timbers from Australia.

Timbers currently in stock include, Blackbutt, Brigalow, Brown Pine, Brushbox, Gidgee, Grey Box, Grey Gum, Gymbie Messmate, Kauri (South Queensland), Narrow Leaf Ironbark, Grey Ironbark, Maiden Hoop, Red Bloodwood, Red Mahogany, Rose Gum, Silky Oak, Spotted Gum, Sydney Blue Gum, Tallowwood, Turpentine and White Cypress.

Boards as wide as 600mm in Kauri illustrate the uniqueness of the selection available. Timber of this size, quality and quanity has rarely , if ever, been in South Australia. We can satisfy continuity of supply at affordable prices in these unique and sometimes rare timbers.

We specialise in "Durability Class 1" timbers - These are timbers of the highest natural durability which may be expected to resist decay and termite attack.

Our stock is derived from a variety of sources. These include sawn logs from sustainably managed forests, wharfage, and bridge timbers, shearing sheds, shearer's quarters, cottages and sheep and cattle yards. Part of the Bush Timbers philosophy is not to throw anything away.

We are passionate about and derive tremendous satisfaction from rejuvenating these timbers. Gidgee post that outwardly appear old, weathered and grey, when machined, reveal the most extraordinary richness of colours and textures.

The unique history of these timbers provides a link with Australia's past. They reperesent a way of life, a passage of time. These timbers can reflect that - with today's technology they can provide a blending of sophistication with the rustic. At Bush Timbers we see them not as a commodity but as an opportunity to keep a very important part of Australia's heritage alive. Our vision is to give new life to these timbers. Tehy would otherwise be lost or destroyed.
